A welcoming community with deep roots
The church began in 1925 as the worshipping community of German-speaking Mennonites who escaped the Russian Revolution. The original church building, built in 1909, was a Moravian church until the population dwindled and the Mennonites were invited to worship there, eventually buying it and expanding the structure.
Having a Mennonite church with a steeple is unique in Saskatchewan as Mennonite churches are usually simpler. Original members were from the surrounding farms.
Pleasant Point Mennonite Church today
Pleasant Point church is a small congregation that meets weekly on Sunday mornings. Many members live in Saskatoon or on farms and acreages in the surrounding area.
Although historically all members were of German Mennonite heritage, people of a diversity of ethnicities and religious heritages now call Pleasant Point home.
We are connected to a wider community of faith through these organizations.
